Green Initiative
First & Main Town Center is proud to announce our latest effort in sustainable living. In our continued effort to enhance the shopping experience at our center we have partnered with Colorado Springs Utilities and added Southern Colorado’s first free public electric vehicle charging station. Our charging station is a Level II unit and offers two outlets for charging. These Level II units will provide a full charge in 3-6 hours, depending on the vehicle charging. This means that after dinner and a movie a vehicle can be fully charged and ready for its next adventure. Our EV charging station is located in the park in front of Cinemark and Coffee & Tea Zone. You will be able to locate the charging station by its retro pump design and green pavement markers.

FAQ*
-
How much does it cost to charge a plug-in vehicle?
Exactly how much will vary depending on the vehicle. On average it will be less than $1 to charge a plug-in hybrid and $2-4 for an all-electric car. At First & Main Town Center it is free! -
How often do you have to replace the batteries?
Not for many years. Several car companies are offering warranties covering 8 years of 100,000 miles of driving on the lithium-ion batteries. Several electric vehicles with over 100,000 miles have been reported with virtually no range degradation. -
What is a plug-in hybrid (PHEV)?
A plug-in hybrid (PHEV) is like a conventional hybrid, but with two important differences: larger battery capacity, and the ability to plug in to the electrical grid to recharge the batteries instead of being dependent on gasoline.
